How to build a cloud with QCT, Ubuntu 14.04 and OpenStack Icehouse
This whitepaper will show you a proof of concept of The Canonical Distribution of Ubuntu OpenStack on QCT (Quanta Cloud Technology) F06A servers.
OpenStack services are provided by Ubuntu Juju charms, which are deployed to hardware via Ubuntu MAAS (Metal-as-a-Service).
We will be using MAAS (Metal-as-a-Service) to provision Quanta F06A servers and provide hardware to which Juju will deploy services. We will first install and configure MAAS, bootstrap Juju and use Juju to deploy OpenStack services and connect those services together.
It is assumed that the reader is familiar with Ubuntu Server and with the Linux operating system in general. You don’t have to be an expert, but past experience will make it a lot easier following this document. We assume that you are familiar with applications and services such as MySQL and OpenStack.
Versions of this whitepaper are available for both highly available (HA) and non-HA deployments.
